Strawberry Fields for a Year or So

It’s been an exhausting three years.

No matter how much we seek to disassociate ourselves from the ills of our gun-toting, morbidly obese old hook-up, the USA’s talent for taking up air and space in this world is unrivalled.

It doesn’t commit human rights violations quietly like everyone else, it does it with a whole Ferris Buellarian parade starring the real Wayne Newton.

And we still have at least one year of watching this flabby kick-line to go.

The most we can do to maintain our sanity is crank our music up louder and bury ourselves in memories of the best of the British (from a time before their royalty was embroiled in a paedophile ring).

Enter: Strawberry Fields.

“The smiles, the sunburn, the sky and the clouds. The strangers, the friends – both newfound and old. That long drive into the unknown, followed by dancing and inevitable laughter. Embarking on adventures through ghost gums, discovering an oriental tea lounge, a jazz quintet improvising on the beach or a disco legend unleashing funk & soul from a treehouse. Long days of wild river swimming and those quiet moments of reflection.

These are the things that will define the greatest weekend of your life.

This year’s lineup features: Alfa Mist (Live), Animals Dancing, Ausecuma Beats (Live), Avantdale Bowling Club (Live), Bebetta, Bob Moses (Live), Club Coco ft. CC:DISCO! & Raphaël Top Secret, Derrick May, DRMNGNOW (Live) (With curation by Still Here), Emma Donovan & the PutBacks (Live), Gerd Janson, Gordon Koang (Live), Interstellar Fugitives, Katie Drov Er, KMLN (Live), Kornél Kovács, Leon Vynehall, Margaret Dygas, Mark Farina Mushroom Jazz, Martha Van Straaten, Merve, Milan Ring (Live), Mildlife (Live), Millú, Moxie, Nu Guinea (Live), Octo Octa B2B Eris Drew, Oliver Huntemann, Oliver Koletzki, Oscar Jerome (Live), Peach, Poranguí (Live), Roza Terenzi (Live), Saorise, Session Victim (Live), Shanti Celeste, Simo Cell, Stavroz (Live), Tiana Khasi (Live), Wata Igarashi, Wax’o Paradiso and Young Marco.”

The lineup may not be remarkable in terms of talent, but they have a penchant for causing near-deafness in their audiences with their collective canons.

And that’s something we could all benefit from right now.
