This year’s Nautical theme encourages sailors, sailorettes, captains and first mates, lifesavers, deep sea divers and everything else below sea level. Let’s get shipwrecked!
Why: We’re placing bets on who gets garroted and eaten first.

Start the New Year in style with Fitzroy’s finest homosexuals for DJs, dancing, debauchery, fresh fruit, sprinklers (if it’s hot) and spritz.
Why: Fresh fruit. A totally non-jarring offering in the middle, there.
6) Animals Dancing: NYD

They’re stretching their legs and spreading things out across the huge outdoor and warehouse spaces of Melbourne’s newest party compound for a limited capacity daytime dance! Over two expansive stages they have carefully curated your party experience for another year, set against the backdrop of Port Melbourne’s industrial rave ready past. Featuring: Lena Willikens (Dekmantel, DE), Tim Sweeney (Beats In Space, US), Tornado Wallace (Running Back, DE), DJ Sports & Central (Regelbau, DK), The Pilotwings (BFDM, FR), Nosedrip (Stroom, BE), Sleep D (Butter Sessions, AU), 12th Isle (Glasgow, UK), Vanessa Worm (Optimo Music, NZ), Darcy Justice (Sunset Sounds, AU), Pjenné (PBS, AU), Otologic (Animals Dancing, AU) and Andee Frost (Animals Dancing, AU).
Why: If only this event featured cats as opposed to humans dancing. You’d all become YouTube-famous and be wealthy enough to buy and sell an event like this. Oh well. Fingers crossed for a live-streamable atrocity.
5) Sundown New Year’s Day
What: Kick off your 2020 New Year celebrations at Melbourne’s biggest inner city gathering. Watch the sun set upon Melbourne’s city skyline as Sundown introduces a brand-new outdoor CBD concept. Boasting a 5,000 capacity venue that features one of the most spectacular backdrops the city has to offer. An improved venue has also allowed them to assemble our biggest lineup of trance, psytrance and hardtrance DJs. Featuring: Aly & Fila, Berg, Cold Blue, Mark Sherry & Scot Project Presents Gentech, Factor B and Jordan Suckley.
Why: Not to be confused with Melbourne’s other biggest inner city gathering. Where everyone’s scratching their needle-marked arms and asking if you can spare $500 and the music is far superior.

2) Let Them Eat Cake
What: Well established now in a class of its own, with offerings that far outweigh the short journey to the mansion. Featuring art, cocktails, teahouses, gourmet seasonal food and drink, and a richly boutique musical festival feel. Cake is about starting your year celebrating the rite of enjoyment, the indulgence of life’s pleasures and an epicurean appreciation of why we were put on this earth. Hedonism you say? (DK), Shigeto LIVE (US), TOKiMONSTA (US) and Tom Trago (NL).
