9) Art Explorers

What: Art Explorers (formerly Toddler Tuesday) uses games, singing and storytelling to encourage children aged 3 – 5 years, along with their parents and carers, to have fun while learning about art. Each session explores a single artwork in the Gallery’s of Modern Art’s collection.

Why: In terms of liability, if your toddler ingests a mass quantity of paint while you’re not looking, you might not be legally responsible for their death.

8) Vintopia!

28th May

What: The format of Vintopia is simple! Take a seat at one of the preset tables and let a tasting guru come to you. Taste nine wines plus receive a full glass of your favourite. All wines presented are available to purchase by the glass and bottle at the bar. Small and large Vintopia cheese and Italian meats boards and freshly-shucked oysters are also available to purchase.

6) Mansfield State High Celtic Ensemble

25th May

What: Experience the beauty and excitement of Celtic melodies as the Mansfield State High School Advanced Celtic Ensemble and voices from the Chorale present ‘Celtic Soul’. You will be inspired as dance and toe tapping jigs are experienced in this concert.

Why: Bonus points for claiming a Celtic heritage whilst eyeing everyone present that doesn’t look white enough to be there.

5) World Play Day Celebration

29th May

What: Come and join in the unlimited free kids activities, messy play, jumping castle, face painting, and purchase a sausage, drink or popcorn to help support the Brisbane South Toy Library.

Why: Remember why you had kids. The tax benefits. Just keep repeating that to yourself as your progeny screams at you whilst s****ing themselves.

3) Baroque Around the Clock

23rd May

What: Join Orchestra Concertino for the best of Baroque music, including excerpts from Handel’s Royal Fireworks and Water Music and Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 1. Also a highlight (though not Baroque) will be Haydn’s delightful Clock Symphony.

Why: The best of Baroque? Excuse us whilst we get a change of underwear.

2) Seren8

27th May

What: Seren8 is an exciting young group of classical musicians who are passionate about using their craft to enrich the lives of the community around them. The founding quartet, which features sopranos Naomi Klazinga and Jenny Gunnarsson, tenor Connor Willmore and baritone Hainian Yu, will be joined by associate artists Jasmine Buckley and Reuben Flower on the piano. In this concert, they will be presenting Brahms’ canonic Liebeslieder Walzer Op. 52 and a number of other dynamic accompanied quartets.

Why: Nothing more enriching than an afternoon of German music.
