10) Tiarnie: Sorry (Too Much)

What: To celebrate the release of ‘Sorry (Too Much)’, Tiarnie will be playing a headline show at O’Skulligans. Writing songs at 2am on her floordrobe is how Tiarnie tries to make sense of the magical, messy moments of her early 20’s. A true over-thinker, over-feeler and over-sharer, her lyrical vulnerability is matched with a fierce vocal tone, captivating melodies, intricate guitar riffs and punchy percussion.

9) The Lecia Louise Band: Live

From rock to blues to alternative pop and jazz, Lecia Louise embraces her musical diversity with accomplished virtuosity, not only as a guitarist but also as a multi-instrumentalist and singer.

8) Van Moss and Friends

What: Psych-rockers Van Moss, emo math rock band A Place in Prague and alt indie band Monsters up North bring a night of stellar original music and the most enjoyable and electric of vibes.
Why: ‘Math Rock’ [noun]: A style of rock music characterized by complex rhythmic and instrumental patterns.

7) Midnight F*ckboys: Live

What: The burgeoning Brisbane 5-piece, Midnight F*ckboys, have crept around the outskirts of indie rock since 2018. Midnight F*ckboys are rooted in ’80s pub rock – with an emphasis on the pub. In these complicated times it’s comforting to find a band that gets back to the basics of rock, with songs about mateship, getting wasted and falling in love, not always in that order.
Why: A band that have made themselves invulnerable to criticism. Well played.

6) Hugo Stranger & The Rattlers: Against The Tide

What: Surf pop and blues act Hugo Stranger & The Rattlers are celebrating the release of their debut album ‘Against The Tide’ at The Bearded Lady with The Double Happiness.
Why: Don’t know what surf pop is? It’s exactly what it sounds like. Played live it’s about 20% sweatier.
5) Belle Haven: Nobody Likes A Hospital

What: Consisting of four best friends who call Melbourne home and have a passion for music and people, metalcore act Belle Haven is a consistently evolving art form. After enduring an entire year of new music & touring plans being cancelled due to COVID-19, the band celebrated an emo Christmas at the end of 2020 with their seasonal single, ‘Moving On’ selling out both sittings within 24 hrs. No more waiting around for things to get better. Belle Haven are hitting the stage with the announcement of their tour ‘Nobody Likes A Hospital’.
Why: You heard them. Don’t wait around for things to get better. You bought the ticket already, just put in your earplugs and spend the rest of the night directly opposite the barman.
4) West End Folk Festival
13th March
What: Experience a festival featuring the best indie folk talents Brisbane has to offer. Featuring: Karl S Williams, Dear Doonan, Belligerent Goat, Accomplice Collective feat Rosa, Mack, Suicide Country Hour, JB Patterson and Yaz Williams.
Why: It’s a little heavy on the Country, so expect at least a light peppering of racism.

3) Jane Street x Chelsea Drive x LY-OH
11th March
What: Make your way down to The Brightside to see some of Brisbane’s freshest new talent. Featuring performances from acoustic rock experimentalists Jane Street, indie rockers Chelsea Drive and energetic pop band LY-OH.
Why: The best way to experience new things is drunk.
2) Sirens of Brisbane
12th March
What: After the success of the first sold out show last December, SIRENS is back with another incredible line up of female artists or female fronted bands. With split lip lyrics and a devil woman attitude, Jollee takes you on a wild Wonder Woman rock n’ roll ride to the other side. Jade Not Jane is a Brisbane based songwriter and performer that combines intimate stories, unforgettable melodies, and raw vocal passion that travels with you long after the music finishes. Emerging from Brisbane via the Gold Coast, Phoebe Sinclair is the latest voice breaking through the Australian pop landscape. The Letter Elle takes influence from a myriad of styles. The forefront of her work is her layers of soulful vocals. Her production work introduces aspects of neo-soul and R&B, and her instrumentation is stylistic of Alternative Rock.
Why: One of the few times you’ll hear sirens in Brisbane and they’re not speeding towards Inala.
