10) Carbon Sequestration & Biodiversity: Valuing & Managing Carbon-Rich Systems

What: International and national climate mitigation policies have seen a growing interest in approaches to carbon accounting and investments in carbon-rich systems. Increasingly this interest includes a focus on the importance of carbon stored in biodiverse systems, as well as the value of integrating biodiversity and other values into new carbon investments. Our speakers will discuss the concept of ‘green’ and ‘blue’ carbon accounting in biodiverse systems and explore new approaches to integrating biodiversity, social and cultural values with carbon accounting. They will also examine the impacts of the 2019-20 fire season on Australia’s carbon budget, how carbon stocks are impacted by a changing climate, and strategies for ensuring biodiverse carbon sinks are sustainable and resilient to future shocks.

What: Since 2010, Nightlife on Mars has been producing live stand-up shows in San Francisco. Now that we’re all stuck at home, they’re taking the show named Best Underground Comedy Show by San Francisco Magazine and taking it online.

Why: They’re talented enough to make San Fransiscans laugh! So we assume the comedy is mostly swearing without context and the hilarious differences between people who travel on the cable cars and those homeless motherf*****s who can’t seem to get their dirty, low-income arses off the docks.

What: To keep your week spicy, check out Virtual TRiPTease! 3) Food Bowl presents: Cook-A-Thon

What: We’re not entirely sure why society is so obsessed with random actors’ favourite types of noodles or whatever, but we must admit we are mildly interested in what exactly is the best kind of greasy LA takeout to douse in cartons of bowel-rattling yoghurt.
