8) Wallows: Live at the Roxy

What: As of mid-May, the last time Dylan Minnette, Braeden Lemasters, and Cole Preston — known together as pastel pop-rock band Wallows — had seen each other in person was when they filmed a music video in March. The visual, which brings their jaunty tune “OK” to vibrant life, doubles as a showcase for the trio’s fellowship. The COVID-19 pandemic led performing artists en masse to cancel festivals and tours worldwide, including Wallows, who had to ditch a run of headlining shows. At the same time, amid all the uncertainty, the optimistic refrain of “OK” took on an entirely new significance. “The lyric ‘Can we get up and try to feel OK again?’ [was] trying to spin a positive message,” Lemasters told MTV News. They will be performing live in a unique livestreamed concert.

Why: If something referred to as “pastel pop-rock” appeals to you…we’re sorry for the future we’ve created for you, but consider it time served for spewing out bands like this.

7) José González: The Life You Can Save

What: José González is an indie folk singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist out of Gothenburg, Sweden. He is known for his soft, pensive vocals and gentle acoustic melodies played on Alhambra, Esteve, and Córdoba classical guitars. He is also a member of the two-piece, Junip, alongside Tobias Winterkorn on organ and synthesisers. Experience him live.

Why: It turns out Tobias Winterkorn is not a Wodehouse character, but the real name of a real person. That’s reason enough to at least give this a look-in.

What: The Hip-Hop 4 Peace livestream is commemorating the U.N.’s International Day of Peace. Chuck D, KRS One, Rakim and more hip-hop artists from around the world will participate.

What: K-pop star Wonho is performing his first live solo show for his solo debut album Love Synonym #1 : Right for Me. The global livestream will feature songs from the mini album, as well as new tunes, cover songs, behind-the-scenes footage and more.

4) Lamb of God: Ashes of the Wake 

26th September

What: Lamb of God (sometimes abbreviated as LoG) is an American heavy metal band from Richmond, Virginia. Formed in 1994 as Burn the Priest, the group consists of bassist John Campbell, vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, and drummer Art Cruz. They are considered a significant member of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal movement and will be performing, for the first time, the entirety of their album Ashes of the Wake live, from their hometown Richmond, Virginia. The pre-show kicks off an hour earlier featuring a Q&A with the band.

2) Virtual Roo-Ality

25th-27th September

What: If you missed partying at Bonnaroo this year, the festival is offering up a chance to enjoy some live music at home instead. Bonnaroo has announced its Virtual Roo-Ality festival! The free, three-day streaming event will feature Charli XCX on a panel, a new performance from Action Bronson, and many other appearances and sets. The festival will also be showcasing some of the most memorable performances in its archives, including sets by Metallica, My Morning Jacket, the White Stripes, and more.
