6) Virtual Writing Hour with the National Portrait Gallery

16th September

What: Join the NPG for a virtual, creative writing hour at the National Portrait Gallery! They’ve set up a virtual space where writers can create, connect, and draw inspiration from the Portrait Gallery’s online exhibitions on Google Arts and Culture. Bring your own happy hour beverage of choice and write with with artists from around the globe. The NPG will provide writing prompts, and you are also welcome to bring your own writing project-in-progress. You will write for about 30 minutes and each session will end with a brief reading.

5) Unplugged+Live

What: Founded in 2013 by singer-songwriter Arsena Schroeder, The Unplugged+ Live Series is a touring concert series in support of independent singer-songwriters. Initially a house concert series and now a melange of indie rock and experimental jazz, Unplugged+Live is a listening-room experience that allows concert goers the opportunity to engage with singer-songwriters and their original content. This incarnation will feature Curt Keyz and Nathan Storey.

4) Black Laughs Matter: Virtual Comedy Show 3

What: The live comedy scene has been devastated by the closure of all of the comedy clubs, so if you’d like to support black comics, join in on a special ‘Black Laughs Matter’ online comedy show live from San Francisco. 2) Cartography of Poets: Maps, Archives and Locating the Poetic

What: The USC Libraries are home to archives of California poets who have influenced literary art around the globe. Some have taken inspiration from California’s geology and geography, some from its diversity of communities, and others from the regional interplay of formal poetic structures and experimental techniques. All embody aspects of California-ness that are present in the archives. Join California poets Dana Gioia, Garrett Hongo, Robin Coste Lewis, Luis J. Rodriguez, David St. John, and Gail Wronsky for an evening of intrepid explorations of historical and contemporary California poets and poetry, followed by a conversation about how history and place—literal and figurative—shape the poetic experience.

What: Sydney’s leading festival for cult and underground film, the Sydney Underground Film Festival (SUFF), is back for its 14th year.
