Why: Nothing like a vision of Rocketman in Rio in ’95 to contrast ‘rona in Rio in 2020. They’re both mass amounts of bodies piled on top of each other but in the latter version they’re not moving.

9) Silverstein: Next Level 

20th July

What: Silverstein is a 5-piece post-hardcore band from Burlington, Ontario, Canada who formed in 2000 and currently consists of Paul Koehler, Josh Bradford, Billy Hamilton, Shane Told and Paul Marc Rousseau. To celebrate their 20th anniversary, they will be livestreaming a special concert from isolation.

Why: You know how the place around your stomach shrivels with embarrassment when you remember your ‘nobody-understands-me’ teenage phase? Well these guys are in their 40s and have stomachs of f***ing steel.

8) Mando Diao: Live From Nalen

What: Formed in Sweden in 1999, Mando Diao is a garage rock band that takes the form of a pop outfit that has earned two Platinum certified albums with “Give Me Fire!” and “Infruset”. According to the band, The Beatles is their original inspiration source and the name Mando Diao has only one meaning, and it appeared to band member Björn Dixgård in a dream. Experience their unique talents in a livestreamed concert.

Why: The Beatles via Sweden. This is definitely not the first time someone has thanked a higher power for the existence of Liverpool, but perhaps the first time someone has been spurred to do so because of someone named Björn.

Why: They actually are very reminiscent of Aerosmith. So, Steve Tyler, please feel no need to keep hanging on. We’ve got people covered in human meat and blood and all their own fully functioning organs to scream for us. If you don’t want to die unnoticed we can prop you up in a wheat-field somewhere in Massachusetts and invest a large part of your wealth in surrounding your moulding corpse with a constant stream of just legal sixteen-year-old female mourners.

What: Video Age is the project of Ross Farbe and Ray Micarelli, longtime friends from their early years coming up in New Orleans’ DIY scene. Together, they use a host of vintage synthesizers to craft music that taps into a vein of early ’80s synth-pop. Experience their unique talents in a livestreamed concert.

Why: A chill funk sound for the 2020 era. In other words, almost offensively inappropriate.
