10) Fearless At Home Festival

10th May

What: Iconic US label Fearless Records is hosting a virtual global event, Fearless At Home. The live stream music festival will take place this Monday and the label has the lineup of international artists that will perform across the five-hour concert. Leading the way will be acoustic sets from the likes of As It Is, Plain White T’s, Ice Nine Kills, Locket, Set It Off, The Almost, The Plot In You, Wage War + The Pretty Reckless. In addition, All The Remains, iDKHOW, I Prevail, Underoath, and Volumes will also perform, while home-grown Aussies Eat Your Heart Out are also on the lineup.

Why: A grating reminder that it’s the whitest most right-wing conservatives who are technically rebelling these days. You can wage war against the machine as long as you do so responsibly at home with respect to the restrictions.

7) EDC Virtual Rave-A-Thon

16th-18th May

What: Insomniac has revealed an event to tide fans over during self-isolation: a virtual rave-a-thon built around the spirit of the infamous Las Vegas electro dance festival, EDC. The EDC virtual rave-a-thon will be hosted by Pasquale Rotella and will be available to fans on a global scale.

Why: And here we thought months of isolation would starve the rave infection out of society. But it appears that it’s come back in a mutated, much more insidious, form.

6) Ed Helms ‘Whisky Sour Happy Hour’

14th May

What: “Whiskey Sour Happy Hour,” Helms’ newly launched limited web series benefiting MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund and Direct Relief, invites some of the leading and emerging artists from the wider American roots community to perform intimate shows directly from their homes. The first two episodes featured big-name artists like Lee Ann Womack, Ben Harper, Yola and Billy Strings, among others, while future guests include Rosanne Cash, Langhorne Slim, Mandy Moore, Rhiannon Giddens & Francesco Turrisi, Valerie June and more. 5) Awesome Soundwave Live

What: After the success of the first edition, Carl Cox’s Awesome Soundwave label (in partnership with Beatport) has announced a second online festival! Presented by Carl, the event will feature the likes of Christopher Coe + Ehsan Gelsi, Digital Afrika, Mat Playford, Giorgia Angiuli, An On Bast and Satoshi Tomiie, who will all play live from their lockdown locations around the world. Self-isolate. Rave together.

4) Can’t Be There Today

What: Billy Bragg released a song “Can’t Be There Today” back in March, in honour of the UK’s Mother’s Day, which fell on the first weekend of lockdown. Inspired by that, City Winery has put together a livestream special for Mother’s Day this Sunday which will be headlined by Bragg and also includes Rosanne Cash, Rufus Wainwright, Loudon Wainwright, The Mountain Goats, The Indigo Girls, Steve Earle, Richard Thompson, Shovels & Rope, Jorma Kaukonen, Joan Osborne, Joseph Arthur, Stella Donnelly and more. Winfrey will deliver the commencement address (a job she’s already well-versed in doing). 1) Recharge Festival

17th May

What: Tones And I, Missy Higgins, Pierce Brothers and The Jezabels are among the artists lined up for the inaugural Recharge 2020 Festival. A partnership of streaming event specialist Delivered Live and Victorian Government, the virtual concert is said to represent “the best of Victoria, from its farms to its pubs, from its estuaries to its kitchens,” and will beam out on YouTube to a live audience. Also performing will be The Black Sorrows, Archie Roach, Ainslie Wills, Dallas Frasca, Fanny Lumsden, Hannah Blackburn, Thando and Wagons.

Why: Nothing will make your heart ache like a classic estuary-based opus.
