10) The Disco Affair feat. Beth Yen and Supermini

What: A disco collaboration between some of Sydney’s premiere music brands for a night of groovy ecstasy. It’s a Disco Affair. Hot Sunday Records, Disco Fiasco Records, Sunset Soulection and Electric Boogie have come together with some of Sydney’s most recognised disco selectors for a takeover at The Flinders. Featuring: Beth Yen, Supermini, Buried King, Big in Japan, Hot English Mustard DJ, Latour and Kellit.
Why: The name is apt. The world’s relationship with disco is exactly like an affair. Hot, sweaty, shameful and pops up every five years or so when a particularly depressing thing happens and nostalgia clouds your brain to the extent that you think, “Screw everything, I look good. I gotta wrap those sequinned pants around my arse one more time”.
9) Up For It!

What: The Promoters of UP FOR IT! Sydney’s legendary classics and anthems nights (circa 1996 – 1999) invite you to a celebration of house music from 1988 to the present times. DJ’s playing vinyl and/or digital sets: Robin Burrowes (US), Dave Kirkpatrick, Nick Law, Dr Dent, & Sharyn Brand.
Why: Nothing says ‘progress’ like hearing 32 years worth of ‘UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ’. Though there is one thing that’s changed since the 80s. The cost of a vinyl record has somehow skyrocketed.

6) Pendulum Trinity

What: The biggest selling Australian drum and bass act of all time. See the three Australian founding members, Rob Swire (Anscenic), Gareth McGrillen (Speed) and Paul Harding (El Hornet) perform together in Sydney for the first time in over a decade. The guys will be testing out brand new music in an exclusive club setting.
Why: We’re celebrating the ten year reunion of a drum and bass act. Perhaps the furore directed towards youth culture when they attempt to take ownership of bands from the 70s is unwarranted. If this is the nostalgia that current 30-year-olds have access to, imagine the hollow gaping void every younger generation is facing.

5) Green Haus

What: Welcome to the first ever Green Haus. It’s basically your standard Sydney inner west warehouse party – some wild bands, DJs and solo acts along with a vegan sausage sizzle, but the place is full of plants. So everywhere there is not a plant, there will be jiving, skyvin’, delightin’, high ridin’ human beings. One of them should be you. Profits will be going to a WIRES and the Red Cross Bushfire appeal. Lineup: Majun Bu, Kyoshi, Hibiscus Biscuit, Lochie Earl, Era Sol, Cosy Bosom, Before The King, Pharmercy, Orion and Chelsea Warner.
Why: In ten or so years, this will be the most authentic experience we have of genuine natural wilderness. Better get attuned to the calls of the EDM bro now.

What: The Red Hot Summer Tour celebrates 10 years of Red Hot Rock in 2020 and in true style, organisers have put together an incredible all Australian line-up for a massive series of dates. In an incredible coup for music-fans, ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Hunters & Collectors are reuniting to headline the 2020 tour, bringing with them special guests James Reyne, The Living End, The Angels, Baby Animals, Killing Heidi and Boom Crash Opera.
Why: A lineup of rockers so hardcore they haven’t as of yet cancelled due to fears concerning air quality.
3) Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras

What: Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is one of Australia’s most famous and well-loved events, bringing thousands of visitors to Sydney to join in the celebrations. It captures the imagination of Australia’s LGBTQI and mainstream communities, taking over the city for weeks on end, culminating in the world-famous Parade: a colourful and dazzling night of pride, celebration and self-expression. Why: If only the mythic Garden of Eden had contained this much MDMA, Cain and Abel might have been a lot more chill about everything and the story wouldn’t have included fratricide.
