Fight the Power (the Other One) at the National Sustainable Living Festival

It’s hip to be square.

That’s right. It’s 2020 and Huey Lewis has never been more relevant. His impassioned ironic treatise concerning conformity may as well replace, on a mass scale, every anthem of every organisation and country.

In 2020 to be opposed to a faction is to become part of another faction in a sea of factions. There is no way in which to exist without conforming to a group and its think.

Which, on the one hand, may say something depressing about humanity’s eternal fate of shuffling around in a tiny maze without an exit or an end whose greatest self-created purpose is to see whose corner has the most powerful urine smell, but on the other hand, it’s a bloody relief. No matter how anti-establishment, vegan, anti-feminist, feminist, anti-capitalist, anti-consumerist, pro-war, anti-war, insufferable, creepy, backwoods, progressive or vilely hypocritical one is, one cannot be entirely ostracised.

Enter: The National Sustainable Living Festival.

The National Sustainable Living Festival is not just an event, it is a movement of change-makers. Its mission is simple: accelerate the uptake of sustainable living and to seek solutions to global warming.

With over 100,000 visits every year, the event is the largest sustainability festival in Australia — and not just in numbers, but also in impact. By showcasing cutting-edge solutions to ecological and social challenges, the Festival fosters and provides tools for the change we want to see and the difference we want to make in the world.
