What: Sydney-based event label, Rock Bottom, is celebrating 12 months of underground parties at the Civic Underground. Experience an intimate night of all minimal, prog and electro featuring Rock Bottom residents.

What: To start off a new era in Sydney free of lockouts in the CBD and Oxford Street, UNDISCLOSED will be holding their first 12-hour techno party at their home stomping ground, Goodbar. Both levels of Goodbar will be open, with UNDISCLOSED holding down the fort in the basement while the burgeoning early-morning kick-on specialists, Toasted will be taking over upstairs. Downstairs in the iconic basement, fast-rising Melbourne queen of the rave, Laura King will be flying up to Sydney to take you on a journey through her nostalgic taste in techno, hard trance and acid. The remainder of the bill is stacked with immense local talent.
Why: Saving Sydney’s nightlife is like performing an ancient spell to bring your dead dog back to life, succeeding and then realising you’re suddenly surrounded by a graveyard full of undead Baxters. Including the Baxter that died in an animal testing lab, the constantly horny Baxter, the tarantula Baxter and the Baxter with chronic diarrhoea.

7) Klubnacht: Enter The Lair

What: Experience a night inspired by elements of Berlin’s and Australia’s techno scene with B2PC. Heartfelt soundscapes twisted into brutally heavy techno, Bass To Pain Converter embodies bass mutation, destruction and power. Exploring a balance between industrial darkness, psychedelia, tribal groove and narrative, B2PC’s ethos has been developed with labels such as Renesanz, Digital Structures, Egothermia Records, Bassic Records, Techgnosis Records and Raw Nuts, and have led him to remixing artists such as DJ Balthazar, Knobs, Triforce, Ben Rama and Aerodroemme. What: The Red Hot Summer Tour celebrates 10 years of Red Hot Rock in 2020 and in true style, organisers have put together an incredible all Australian line-up for a massive series of dates. In an incredible coup for music-fans, ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Hunters & Collectors are reuniting to headline the 2020 tour, bringing with them special guests James Reyne, The Living End, The Angels, Baby Animals, Killing Heidi and Boom Crash Opera.
Why: A lineup of rockers so hardcore they haven’t as of yet cancelled due to fears concerning air quality.
3) Sydney Lunar Festival
2nd-9th February
What: Celebrate Lunar New Year in spectacular style in Sydney. 2020 is the Year of the Rat. The rat is the first sign in the Chinese zodiac cycle, so 2020 can be considered a year of new beginnings and renewals. Haymarket is the centre of Sydney’s Lunar New Year celebrations. The street party kicks off with live entertainment, roving performers, golden rat robots, games, lion dancers, markets and food trucks. At the nearby Chinese Garden in Darling Harbour there will be a special Twilight Garden Party. The fun continues in the garden for 16 days with calligraphy and lantern decorating workshops, meditation sessions, traditional tea ceremonies, musical performances and a closing ceremony with a 15-metre dragon. Don’t miss the exciting dragon boat races on Cockle Bay! At Circular Quay, 12 huge lunar lanterns representing the animals of the zodiac will be on display. There will also be parades of bright LED lions and dragons on every weekend. Also, head over to the lantern-strewn Lunar New Year markets at The Rocks to pick up gifts, jewellery, art and food.
Why: Living almost vampirically under the light of the moon is a wonderful way to remove those troubling thoughts of the burgeoning environmental apocalypse. If you don’t see the raging sun blanketed by diseased-looking smoke clouds, you can still cram a whole cow leg down your throat for breakfast with the air-con cranked up to ‘Greenland’ without feeling at all guilty.

2) St Jerome’s Laneway Festival

What: Featuring the most talked about, critically-acclaimed and best live acts in the world right now, the 2020 Laneway Festival is gonna be the hottest ticket in town! 1) Twilight at Taronga
