Top 10 things On in Brisbane this week 22/12/2019
If you go down to the woods this week, you’re sure to be unsurprised. There’ll be around 100,000 20-something-year-olds dancing around with glow sticks and enlarged pupils.
10) Luca Bacchetti (Live DJ)
22nd December
What: Luca Bacchetti, is one of the world’s most sought-after DJs and producers from Italy. His approach to production is very similar to his way of playing as a DJ. Luca is often described as a storyteller, his music reflecting his poetic way of seeing the world around him. A characteristic which, over the years, has led him to express himself via a diverse range of musical aesthetics, often surprising the listener, sometimes even at the risk of being misunderstood, but always in accordance to his way of living the club and electronic music scene. Experience him live.
Why: Proof that just because a piece of music is from a different country and culture, that doesn’t guarantee its mellifluousness.

9) Boxing Day Soiree feat. Sevader
26th December
What: It’s back. Marking 12 months to the day since they crossed the Noosa Bar and reintroduced Catalina to her natural habitat, this Boxing Day Catalina are keeping it tight with local legends SEVADER. The boys have had an incredible year working with the likes of DOORLY (UK), Dena Amy (SYD) and creating remixes for Cassian, PoolClvb and more recently busting into the Top 20 of the Triple J Unearthed charts with a remix of Rufus Du Sol’s ‘New Sky’.
Why: Aurally imagine any piece of techno music. Then stay home and listen to the sound of a pneumatic drill on repeat. You’ll have a far better experience.

8) Bushwacka! (Live)
26th December
What: Bushwacka! In many guises he has been around since 1988 and is still loving the life he lives and doing what he does best, a percussionist in the London School Symphony Orchestra who was converted into a member of the infamous Rat Pack after a warehouse party in ’88, has been DJing for over 30 years now. Fast forward to 2019, and Bushwacka! has been releasing massive tracks – starting with his classic track The Healer, with remixes from himself, Carl Cox, Sasha, M.A.N.D.Y and Denney – and just released a second banging single on Ultra Records – Get Up, with remix from Mason Manyard. Bushwacka! is currently remixing for Archie Hamilton, Bedrock Records, Richy Achmed, and writing new music for Eats Everything. Experience him live.
Why: A man in his 40s still spinning techno in a club full of 20-year-olds is clearly emotionally very healthy. Come see him be entirely normal.

4) Brunch With Bite
22nd December
What: Tired of vanilla Sundays? Spice things up at Cloudland’s Brunch with Bite. It’s a bottomless brunch that promises to be deliciously naughty, and at the same time, delightfully nice. So, slip into something more comfortable, wrap your arms around your guy and gal pals, and get on down. Then sink your teeth into something off-the-wall different, and something with a little bit of bite. Arrive ready to be entertained by the riotous and risqué as you indulge in a banquet brunch menu that is as decadent as it is divine. You can even opt in to the bottomless drink option if you dare!
Why: It’s endless gluttony, drunkenness and drag cabaret on a Sunday morning. You’re an adult now, and this is your church. Youth is vastly overrated.

K.
Why: There’s nothing more escapist than a blatantly misogynistic, homophobic rap artist. That could never exist in every day life. How fantastical.
