10) Trans Community World AIDS Day BBQ

What: Come to the Trans Community BBQ to remember and celebrate World AIDS Day. This event is for everyone Transgender, Gender Diverse, Non-Binary, Sistergirl and Brotherboy folk and their allies.
Why: Free food, free moral upgrade. For the rest of the week, you can be the bastard you are with a mite less self-hatred.
9) Overlook BNE Summer Edition
7th December
What: Sub Rosa has recently had a face lift and an all round tidy up. They’ve got a fresh new sound system and the club surrounds are looking tops. It’s time to round up your crew of mates to experience some quality house music, day drinking, summer vibes and good company.
Why: We’re headed for the eternal night of a dystopian future fully realised. Might as well experience day drinking while we can still call it that.

8) Tube & Berger: Brisbane Show

What: Arndt Roerig and Marko Vidovic – known as Tube & Berger – started their musical journey over a decade ago. Since then, the house producers and in-demand remixers have put out two acclaimed studio albums, released on an array of prestigious labels, played constant gigs around the world and now have over 100 million Spotify Streams and counting to their name. Tube & Berger have undoubtedly helped to shape the house genre, crafting several scene defining records in the last couple of years.
Why: Two middle-aged Germans and a synth define 2019 youth culture. It makes you wonder when the developmental bit between tween boy band and balding over-the-hill DJ disappeared.

7) Perfect Stranger, Yuli Fershtat & EEEMUS Live
6th December
What: Earth Frequency Festival, Euca Music and Bassic Records band together to present a night of psychedelic and progressive techno in the heart of Brisbane, broadcast through the immaculate Void sound system at Sub Rosa.
Why: It’s incredible how the potentiality and brilliance of a phrase can be murdered at the finish line. Psychedelic and progressive…techno. They almost had it, there.
6) Jack Botts Northern Rivers EP Release Tour
6th December
What: Jack Botts is a breath of fresh air out of the Northern Rivers of NSW, creating a brand of surf folk drenched in depth and substance. This is showcased in droves on his debut EP ‘Summer Nights’, released in November 2018. Jack introduced listeners to his unique form of story telling, filled with tales of from the road, chance meetings and simply letting life take its course under the warm cover of darkness. Experience him live.
Why: Never has the phrase “everyone is unique” been so applicable.
5) Austen (Live)
5th December
What: Australian songstress and rising pop icon, Austen has released her debut EP, Passenger Seat and is taking the EP on the road for her debut headline tour. Austen is back debuting her own headline show set to take you on a ride through the highs and lows of a relationship.
Why: Never heard of her before? She sounds exactly like you’ve heard her before.

4) PLANET ‘Reason Why’ Single Tour
7th December
What: Sydney gaze-pop outfit PLANET is the culmination of several years of trial and error in songcraft, performance and production. They were brought together by their shared love of music: old and new, foreign and domestic. Drawing influences from past and present the four-piece combine pop laden guitar hooks with soaring vocal melodies. The result is a sound which is reminiscent of Britpop but remains undeniably Australian. Experience them live.
Why: We must admit this is the first time we’ve heard of the genre pop-gaze. So it’s a genre of music that aims to appeal to a general audience…in a detached, introspective, non-confrontational state. It is marked by a consistent and noticeable rhythmic element, a mainstream style and a simple traditional structure…creating a wash of sound where no instrument is distinguishable from another. Either Wikipedia is vastly mistaken or the era of music we currently inhabit is absolute bollocks. Por que no los dos?

3) Halestorm 2019 Tour

What: Hard rock juggernaut HALESTORM are delighted to announce plans for their December 2019 Australian headline tour, presented by MJR Presents by arrangement with UTA. Recently in Australia for the second annual Download Festival Australia, they will return down under with special guests Black Stone Cherry to bring the ruckus! Wall of Sound saw Halestorm at Download Festival Australia and proclaimed that “The four-piece from Pennsylvania brought the mayhem to Australia. Horns up were demanded by the self-described crazy chick on stage, with fans responding accordingly.”
Why: They’re “nothing like the rest”. Just like the rest.
