What: Think of the fantastical tales your parents used to read to you in bed when you were a child, and then imagine them coming to life in a secret location. That’s the innovative experience that URLAND, a performance collective from the Netherlands, aims to create for guests at Bedtime Stories in this coming-of-age live radio play performed by Thomas Dudkiewicz. Laugh, squirm and dream along as Bedtime Stories catapults towards its unexpected ending, keeping you on edge from scene to scene.
Why: If your parents were like ours, maybe don’t think about it too hard. There’s nothing particularly fantastical about menopausal depression.

9) Yotto presents Odd One Out

What: Finnish producer, notorious oddball and Anjunadeep mainstay Yotto announced today the launch of his own record label, Odd One Out, a collective dedicated to the eccentric sounds that mirror the artist’s quirky personality and permeation of the electronic music space. A renowned selector, Yotto has lit up dance floors around the world, from Coachella to Printworks and Watergate to Warung. He will next take his talents on a global tour, adding Odd One Out stops to the massive run which includes his biggest shows to date across Australia. Experience him live.
Why: Or as technically alive as someone that has dedicated their existence to electronic music could possibly be. We’re not saying he’s entirely dead inside, but for his life choices to make sense, his internal monologue must be at least 80% comprised of the Dubstep SFX library.

8) Leisure ‘Twister’ Tour

5) Kasey Chambers: 20th Anniversary of The Captain Tour

What: Twenty years ago Kasey Chambers released her ground-breaking debut album ‘The Captain’. It was a pivotal record that remains the cornerstone of her outstanding career. In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of The Captain, Kasey performs a very special concert, sentimentally reforming her original band, playing songs from The Captain album, alongside a “best of her career set”.

3) Birds Of Tokyo: Good Lord Tour
18th September
What: Alt rockers Birds of Tokyo have announced new dates for their September Good Lord Tour. In other good news for the band, ‘Good Lord’ will be certified Gold on next week’s ARIA Singles Chart. The breakup anthem is already one of the most played songs on Australian radio, proving that there’s still some space on the commercial airwaves for electric guitars and real drums.
Why: Somehow unfamiliar with their canon? Imagine every generic indie-alt-rock band. That’s it.
2) Brisbane Festival
15th-28th September
What: Boldly Brisbane and gloriously global, the festival shines a spotlight on a packed program of spellbinding shows, provocative performances and illuminating installations that will set the city alight. Queensland’s largest arts and cultural event will host 454 performances of 83 shows, involving over 908 artists from around the world. This year’s theme is based on the (other) three Rs: Revels, Revelations and Romance.
Why: It’s about time they came up with another use for that old phrase. Apple’s replaced basic literacy and numeracy skills and environmental sustainability probably causes autism so we might as well eat, party and screw our way to the sparkling grave.

1) Mitchell Creek Rock ‘N’ Blues Fest
19th-22nd September
What: An Australian Premier Music Festival hosted on a private 100 acre property up in Noosa Hinterland’s beautiful Mary Valley. The Beeries

What: Welcome to The Beeries! For the third year, the beer and cider community will gather at the RICC for a huge celebration. It’s the beer industry’s ‘night of nights’ and 300 of the industry and those that make the industry possible – the beer and cider lovers – will be there to enjoy it. Hosted by ABC Radio’s Rebecca Levingston. Enjoy canapes and welcome drinks presented by Aether Brewing and Diablo Ginger Beer, a delicious two-course dinner, a drinks package to rival all drinks packages and live music.
Why: It’s rather impressive how they’ve managed to make an event that genuinely appreciates the cultivation of liquor as an art-form sound like a clique in a homeless shelter.
