10) Fully Gassed XL presents Footsie, Jamakabi, Sir Spyro + More

What: Fully Gassed XL, 50/50 Grime Melbourne & Dark Riddims in conjunction with Whatever Agency presents the Rhythm Rollers 2019 showcase with UK Grime OG’s: Footsie Newham, Sir Spyro and Jamakabi. These 3 need little introduction. All have been an integral part of the flourishing UK Grime Scene since the beginning and are still to this date staples across the UK, Europe and worldwide.
Why: Imagine if the most loud and incomprehensible parts of hip hop and techno were thrown into a motorised sink disposal. Then imagine jamming your own arm into a motorised sink disposal to experience some sort of reprieve.
9) Full Moon Party

What: Billboard The Venue will be completely transformed over 2 rooms, with 1000’s of free glow sticks, festival wands, flashing leis, UV face and body paint, fire performers and amazing neon light shows!
Why: Like a bad LSD trip but completely devoid of any meaningful revelations.

8) Prog Sesh presents TIMELOCK

What: Timelock (Iboga Records, Spin Twist Records, Blue Tunes Records), owner of Dropzone Records, has been in the industry for over 20 years. His latest release is Rework on the Remix that will be released on Spin Twist Records. He will headline this incredible night of the best techno and psytrance acts in the world, hosted by the Progression Sessions family.
Why: Nothing says ‘progressive’ like a man in his 40s wearing an undersized hoodie bleating at a club full of 20-years-olds to ‘feel the groove’.

What: MTC is back and ready to bring you some proper techno to help you start your spring off the right way! In 2019 they are going back to doing what they do best and focusing on the excellent talent this awesome TECHNO city has!
Why: So. Melbourne’s a techno city now. And here we thought the blues and post punk legends that once inhabited the city were a matter of pride. But then again…who could possibly compete with songs like ‘Wrek Tha Discotek’?

What: A hot ‘n’ sweaty warehouse party nestled between Brunswick East, Thornbury and Coburg. Slither down the stairs at factory 1/10 and prime your senses for the onslaught of scientific beats, crisp rave and intelligent dance music.
Why: So the day’s finally come. Dance music has finally admitted its intelligence to the world. Its talent for causing immense pain to delicate human organs was just the first phase its plan to dominate the human race. Apparently the next phase involves some kind of human-reptile hybrid.
4) The Afterglow

What: Join immersive art collective The Boon Companions for a night of reflection, letting go, and switching on your internal illumination. Featuring multiple live performances by artists, musicians and makers, giving you the opportunity to honour your shadow self whilst simultaneously letting the light in. Be curious, go on an adventure, and become ultimately incandescent.
Why: ‘Incandescent’ is certainly a word for it. ‘Alcohol-induced vomiting after-sweats’ is a more accurate phrase.

Why: It’s that old philosophical conundrum. If you keep replacing parts of a boat at what point does it stop being the original boat? Well, who cares? You’ll never be able to afford a boat. Not when you keep pissing away money on Fleetwood Mac’s new lineups.

What: Melbourne Fringe transforms the city into a platform for every kind of artform imaginable, supporting over 3,000 artists to present 450+ works in 170+ venues to more than 360,000 people. The Fringe celebrates freedom of artistic expression, takes voices from the margins and amplifies them across the city. By pushing boundaries and illuminating new thoughts and ideas, the Festival transforms not only the city’s places but its people too.
Why: Hundreds of thousands of hipsters infesting every corner of the city, randomly exploding in quasi-unsolicited theatrics. What a transformation for Melbourne.
