Top 10 Sydney Revelry On this week 08/09/2019
Cock your weapons. You’re coming with us to the underground. Here be dragons.
10) Something Else x Jahra
14th September
What: Something Else is honouring local talent in this night of electronic goodness. Heading up the night is Jahra, a long standing guest at Something Else who has played the dance floors of almost every venue. He will deliver the grooves to keep you moving all night. Along side him is Kemba. He is a key component of the SASH Family – expect house & minimal from this young gun.
Why: A night of local talent proving false the idiom ‘better the devil you know than the devil you don’t’. At least the electro-spewing devils you don’t know provide the meat for a slightly more interesting anecdote.

9) Cassian & Friends (5 Hour Set)
14th September
What: Following a whirlwind 6 months around the globe including Coachella and Lollapalooza plus a national RÜFÜS DU SOL support tour, powerhouse EDM and House producer Cassian returns to Sydney for his debut headline club show. His recent releases Same Things & Lafayette have stormed through the streaming charts and ignited club floors worldwide.
Why: Drink until you can delude yourself into believing you know the difference between the previous track and the following track.
8) UNDISCLOSED’s 1st Birthday
13th September
What: What started as a seed of inspiration grew into something that spread throughout the techno underground of Sydney. UNDISCLOSED is celebrating its first birthday with UNDISCLOSED 16.0! Come celebrate the year that was and welcome in the next exciting era of UNDISCLOSED with the most stacked lineup yet.
Why: We had no idea there was an ‘underground’ to the techno scene. We assume it entails the act of actually lobotomising the participating audience rather than just simulating the effects via alcohol.

7) Curi ft. Josh Cassidy, Headscar + MORE
14th September
What: You have been invited to Curi’s debut event. Come and groove out to your favourite R&B and Hip Hop artists in the Chapel (R&B/Hip Hop room), then proceed to The Temple (Bass room) to mosh out. Try not to break your neck.
Why: Or do break your neck. Prior to this event. The drugs you’ll have access to as a result of breaking your neck will be far superior to the ones you find at this bass rave.
6) Mi Casa Mexicana
14th September
What: Come and experience the taste and flavours of Mexico at this Pop Up event underground in the heart of Bondi Junction. A collaboration between Sydney Latin Life and The Junction, Bondi will allow you to taste a huge range of Tequila & Mezcal alongside freshly made Ceviche all while a live mariachi band takes the main stage! Saturday Nights then launch into Full Reggaeton to keep the party going all night.
Why: Nothing quashes the harrowing image of children in cages suffering from PTSD at the U.S.-Mexican border like tequila.

2) Sydney Underground Film Festival
12th-15th September
What: The 2019 Sydney Underground Film Festival programs unique, quality independent films that transgress the status quo and challenge the conservative conventions of film-making. The festival is devoted to renewing local interest in independent and experimental film as part of an international underground film culture and aims to change an ingrained culture of cinematic complacency and revitalise an enthusiasm for cinema.
Why: A festival for those whose appetites have been over-sated by easy access to Pirate Bay and its variants. You cannot access any of these ‘underground’ films via illegal methods. The people attending this festival will be students of the arts. So there’s no need to point out the irony.

1) Sydney Fringe Festival
8th-30th September
What: The Sydney Fringe Festival is the largest independent arts festival in NSW. With events spread out across the sprawling city, the festival celebrates and highlights the amazing work of local independent artists, art makers and performers, inviting audiences to visit undiscovered parts of the city, a new venue or a secret bar, and discover the fantastic creative offerings artists prepare year-round. This year, the Fringe is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a lineup focused on re-igniting Sydney’s nightlife.
Why: Considering the current state of Sydney’s nightlife, we can only assume the attempt at re-ignition will involve literal arson.
