The Greatest Band No One’s Allowed To Have Heard Of: Straitjacket Fits Reunion Tour

It’s 2019.

The ability to create indie music has never been so accessible to the masses.

With the complex technology available and the proliferation of cultural diaspora, the intricately painful narratives of a whole new generation are ripe for poetic dissection.

…But the new iPhone is coming out and someone voiced half a thought on twitter.

So, screw it, let’s go back to the 80s!

Yes, legendary songwriter Shayne Carter is reuniting both his trailblazing group Straitjacket Fits and left-field rock/soul project Dimmer for two exclusive Australian dates this September.

Hailed in their day as “the greatest guitar band in the world” by UK rock weekly Melody Maker, Straitjacket Fits were international indie-rock titans in the late 80s/early 90s.

Their back catalogue on renowned label Flying Nun includes such indelible hits as ‘She Speeds’, ‘If I Were You’ and ‘Bad Note For A Heart’, three sublime studio albums and their flawless debut EP ‘Life in One Chord’.

Did we mention they’re from New Zealand?

Who’d’ve thought that claim would ever have such pop-cultural cachet?

No-one. That’s what makes them cool.
