All Grown Up with Kaiser Chiefs
Declaring one’s independence is a formative thing.
Becoming an adult isn’t dictated by the ability to legally purchase liquor nor by the ATO’s awareness of your existence. It’s a realisation of the self and the willingness to cut whatever ties that have afforded you comfort in the past. Which is why you have to declare your independence at least four or five times in order to be able to die at the mental age of at least eighteen.
No matter how many times we feel we’ve reached an age at which we’re fully formed, responsible beings, the fact remains that we are all innately children at the behest of the squishy thing inside our skulls and the constant dull aching desire to stick our thumbs in our mouths, curl into the foetal position and have a pair of tits next to our face reassuring us that everything’s going to be okay.
Being human is the constant act of reforming into something new that has nothing but disdain for what one’s past forms have been. Celebrate the maturity defined by insolence, impulsivity and half-cocked declarations with Kaiser Chiefs.
Indie heroes Kaiser Chiefs play a very special virtual gig from O2 Academy Brixton, exclusively on MelodyVR. With a setlist packed with tracks from their recent, much-praised album Duck and anthems such as ‘I Predict A Riot’, ‘Oh My God’ and ‘Ruby’, Kaisers will provide the rock ‘n’ roll celebration we’ve all been waiting for.
You’re an adult now. So put on that suit, do up your tie properly, fall to the ground, stick a bottle in your mouth and cry “I can do it, I can do it I can do it, I can do it without you!”
