You Are Who You Have Been with Erasure

Too much emphasis is placed upon self-awareness.

These days, it’s all about knowing yourself, understanding who you are and being your authentic self. But it’s in the many, many moments of falling arse-backwards into a quarry or puking out an evenings-worth of Clinkers in a public bin on the way to work that make you who you are.

If you’d stopped to reflect upon your motivations for doing what were about to do you wouldn’t have done it, and you’d have spent the evening having a sedate conversation with a loved one, going for a long walk, or fixing your toilet that’s been clogged for a month.

We’re not saying those aren’t perfectly valid ways to spend an evening, we’re saying that there’s much less to know about a person who is constantly engaged in knowing themselves.

A decent portion of life should be dedicated to indulging impulse without reason or consideration of personal identity. Apropos of that, Erasure, the physical synthpop manifestation of “I don’t know why I can’t stop listening to this” is releasing a new studio album.

Erasure (created in 1985) is a synthpop duo from London, England. Made up of singer and songwriter Andy Bell and Keyboardist Vince Clarke. They will be releasing their 18th studio album in a unique livestreamed performance.

Hold on to the night, there will be no shame.

That’s what the next morning’s for.
