Explore Your Full Potential with Sound Mind: Closer in Crisis
The human mind is capable of incredible things. And since, during this insanity-tickling isolation, we have lost the ability to discern what is credible and what is not credible to an even greater degree than before, that capability is really flourishing.
Who would have thought that the potential your chosen idol was referring to when you were three involved your potential to panic-buy a month’s worth of food and then consume it all during a 24 hour marathon of a Spanish TV series? Certainly not you, because, even though you were three, you possessed a certain amount of logic. The kind of base learned logic that says, “don’t touch the stove”, “don’t stick your tongue into the wall outlet” and “the cat doesn’t like that”.
But now you’re an adult and you have access to the depths of contrarian illogicality you could never have conceived of if you hadn’t been forced into a months long quarantine with only the worst parts of yourself for company.
It’s time you learned about the ins and outs of increasing mental instability from people who couldn’t possibly threaten your sense of pride, because they have no qualifications whatsoever.
Do so with Sound Mind: Closer in Crisis.
Sound Mind, in partnership with Relix, Mental Health America, and National Alliance on Mental Illness of New York City is presenting “Closer in Crisis”, a one-of-a-kind, interactive, virtual benefit concert to support mental health in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. The event brings together artists passionate about mental health issues to build a community around mental health and raise awareness and funding for critical remote mental health resources.
The lineup will feature Chadwick Stokes of Dispatch, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes, Foy Vance, Jade Bird, Langhorne Slim, Ballroom Thieves and Alex The Astronaut. Proceeds raised during the event will support Backline, the music industry’s hub for mental health resources, and their COVID-19 response programs providing mental health support to musicians and the music community.
The wall outlet can wait.
Chad, Taylor, Foy Vance, Jade Bird, Langhorne Slim, the Ballroom Thieves and Alex the Astronaut are here and they’ve brought some fun instruments and a whole mystery box of platitudes just for you!
