Top 10 Australia Revelry On this week 29/03/2020 (COVID-19 EDITION)
A stage three lockdown is inevitable. A stage six hangover is only logical.
10) At Home with Tidal
29th & 30th March
What: Experience unforgettable live performances from some of your favorite pop artists at home with Tidal. Sunday’s livestream will feature JAY-Z, J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Gunna, City Girls, 21 Savage, and more, while Monday’s will feature Beyoncé, Rihanna, Ari Lennox, Trey Songz, Jorja Smith, H.E.R, and more.
Why: Feeling depressed at the current, horrific state of the world? Remember that these are the kinds of people the world chose to idolise when a knife wasn’t to its throat. Then realise that clearly these people are still being idolised. Then cultivate a drinking problem. It’s easy and you have the time.

7) MOSA Live at the Roslyn
2nd April
What: Live at The Roslyn is a weekly concert series where you can watch a live concert from the comfort of your own home (read: quarantine) and interact directly with the band. Live at The Roslyn strives to make music more accessible and inclusive, highlighting the diversity in the Winnipeg music scene. Using creative elements of rock, folk, and soul, Mosa blends her take on the world into lyrically captivating songs. Experience her live-streamed to a worldwide audience.
Why: Someone from a land known for Neil Young and the others, prion diseases and a charming, racist, milquetoast prime minister is going to croon to you about a global pandemic. Canadian white folk-soul music. That should really encapsulate your white hot rage and disenfranchisement.

6) The Witching Hour Live from LazyBones Lounge
31st March
What: Produced by Blind Chihuahua, this concert in quarantine will feature The Witching Hour, a band from the central coast of Australia who write poetic songs that can stem from melodic haunting music to hard Blues based rock.
Why: Thought the proliferation of generic indie rock was over? Think about it. They might have legitimate problems now. We’ve reason to expect a legion of shoe-gazers.

5) Rufus Wainwright’s Musical Everydays
29th March-4th April
What: Singer Rufus Wainwright and cause of the term popera will be live-streaming lush live vocal performances every day for the next few weeks.
Why: This makes perfect sense. You name a child Rufus and there’s at least a 90% chance he’ll grow into a multi-millionaire haircut in an ascot serenading a global pandemic.

4) Piano Concert: Vijay Iyer
5th April
What: Composer-pianist Vijay Iyer has carved out a unique path as an influential, prolific, shape-shifting presence in modern music. A musical innovator, an active collaborator, and a member of multiple artistic communities, Iyer continues to re-imagine the role of the musician in the 21st century. His sextet album Far From Over (2017) was ranked #1 in US National Public Radio’s annual Jazz Critics’ Poll and was named among the best jazz albums of the year in the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Slate, and The New York Times, and the only “jazz release” in Rolling Stone’s list of the 50 best records of 2017. Experience him live-streamed to a worldwide audience.
Why: In times of shared crisis that tend to unite the proletariat masses, it’s good to remember that we are all definitely not equal in terms of talent, charisma and potential.

3) Ben Gibbard: Live From Home
29th March-4th April
What: Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard has begun a series of live-streamed performances from his home studio, as many fans continue to self-isolate due to the coronavirus outbreak. Dubbed ‘Live From Home’, the shows will see the singer perform from his home studio, where he may be joined “digitally” by various guests. Fans will also be able to request songs.
Why: We’re increasingly being forced into social isolation. So there is absolutely no more perfect time to force your neighbours to realise that your taste in music is cooler than theirs by pushing your speakers up to the wall and blasting Gibbard’s ‘Unemotional Emotional Series of Obscure References’ album live and uncut.

2) Isol-aid Festival
28th & 29th March
What: An Instagram Live music festival featuring an incredible lineup including Alex Lahey, Alex The Astronaut, Ali Barter, Big Scary, Camp Cope, Courtney Barnett, Gretta Ray, Middle Kids and more. Tasty perfection in 24 hours over 2 days.
Why: Experience your favourite currently relevant musicians for the first time without a hefty dose of MDMA. If you’re going to have a painful revelation, you might as well do it under quarantine. It’ll take up a few hours and there’s only so much porn you can watch and scrabble you can play.

1) Digital Fort
1st April
What: For the first time in its history, Fader Fort is going online. The Fader will bring together over 40 acts for a day-long broadcast and an opportunity to raise money for charities helping those hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the world’s favorite artists will premiere new music and re-imagine standouts from their back catalogues, while some will go in another direction entirely. Kesha will premiere an unreleased clip from her MTV show (a cover of The Beastie Boys’ “Fight for Your Right”), Guapdad 4000 will give fans a cooking demo as Gordon Scamsey in a “Cooking with Flava” segment, and Ashnikko (who was going to be a surprise after-hours set at Fader Fort this year) will sing along to her hit single “Tantrum” as she’s getting a wax, alongside many more artists.
Why: In times in which we’re forced to face our mortality, it’s sometimes nice to be reminded that there is so much to hate about being alive.
