Admit That the Waters Around You Have Grown at Subsonic
Tensions are rising and the heart of the world’s youth is beating faster.
Unlike recent years, to quote Mix 106.5, of the 80s, 90s and now (referring to the period of ‘now’ when Mix 106.5 existed), of youthful rebellion, the year 2020 feels potentially more akin to the youthful rebellion of the 60s.
A movement.
Perhaps the horrors of the world have finally galvanised a generation, invoking an unquashable desire for change.
Perhaps, as we do now to the 60s, future generations will look back to the 2020s, idolising emblems of passionate rebellion like Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, and Joan Baez, and instead of their eyes tearing at Baez’s encore, “we shall overcome”, they’ll rewind back to that drop in Late Nite Tuff Guy’s 303 and whisper, “this s**t is turnt”.
Well, there’s no place more turnt than Subsonic.
“As they round the corner on a decade of Subsonic Music Festival, they enter into their 11th exciting year and into arguably the most important edition yet of the ground shaking festival.
For ten years they have constantly pushed the needle and hammered the subs. If the underground could see the light of day, and dance with the rays of the hot Australian sun, what would it look like? Like a sunshine kiss from a bottle of dance floor champagne; they are shining forever bright. This is the year. This is it.
It’s with careful curation and enormous pleasure that they announce their biggest house and techno lineup to date. Accompanied by an incredible roster of bass, psy, and progressive stars, alongside talented live music artists and bands. This lineup is the fusion of old-school meets new-school; smashing legends and underground risers. No matter where you are, or what your flavour is at Subsonic, you won’t want to leave the dance floor.
The lineup features: Andy Garvey, Archie Hamilton, Ata, Audiofly, Ben Fester, Bobby, Bruce, Craig Richards, Cristi Cons, Derrick May, Dewalta, Doubting Thomas, Dj Wild, Late Night Tuff Guy, Leon Vynehall, Magaret Dygas, Mathew Johnson, Oliver Huntemann, Que Sakamoto, Ricardo Villalobos, Roi Perez, San Proper, Saoirse, Sonja Moonear, Stavroz, Steve Rachmad, Vera and Young Marco.”
Your sons and your daughters are beyond your command. PLUR, fist-pump.
