10) White Noise presents Kaiser Souzai
6th December
What: Melbourne’s favourite son of Berlin techno, Kaiser Souzai (Ballroom Records) returns to New Guernica for one night only. This will be Markus’ third trip down under to play for White Noise, and like before, expect a big one.
Why: A DJ so secure in his own ego he hasn’t seen it necessary to disassociate his chosen DJ name from Kevin Spacey. Unless it’s not an issue of ego, which is far more troubling.
9) A Butter Sessions Warehouse Production (Vol.2)
7th December
What: Butter Sessions is bouncin’ back to Factory 1/10-12 for Volume 2 of their warehouse production, this time in the thick of summer…sweaty and slimy! Earth-shaking bass and brain-tingling sonics from some of Australia’s finest.
Why: Sweaty, slimy, earth-shaking and brain-tingling. And here we thought coming out of our mothers’ genitalia would be the most uncomfortable legacy we’d have to live with. We had not reckoned on humanity’s proliferation of raves.
8) Prog Sesh presents Perfect Stranger, Yuli Fershtat, EEEMUS
7th December
What: A very special night with the maestro of psychedelic music playing all styles of music to finish off the year with a BANG! Presenting Perfect Stranger (Iboga Records) (Israel), Yuli Fershtat (Digital Structures) (Israel) & EEEMUS (Digital Structures). A night of psychedelic goodness.
Why: Or you could visit your friend Dave, come home with a baggy full of goodness and play a soundtrack that doesn’t resemble a fifteen-year-old’s SoundCloud experiments.
7) Vision Hound presents Stavroz Band, KMLN Live ++
5th December
What: After a sold out first show Vision Hound is happy to announce a second show with Stavroz and their 4 piece band plus an exclusive Melbourne show with KMLN with their awesome live show! Stavroz manages to create a wholesome, comforting soundtrack for a place, which no words can describe. Take a rest, lay down, close your eyes and listen to a story told in an orchestral fashion. Expect a night of up close and personal live electronic music.
Why: There’s nothing more comforting than someone screaming at you, “Let’s RAGE” whilst wiggling blinding neon finger lights in your face.
6) One Day Sundays Summer Solstice
1st December
What: Summer just got even hotter as One Day announces their return to Melbourne as part of the national One Day Summer Solstice run. With a sold out party in Winter marking the return of One Day Sundays to Melbourne, the upcoming Summer instalment taps into the city’s diverse and popping communities of artists, DJs and creatives. Fresh off his release of ‘Toughskin’, AGUNG MANGO will be taking the stage for a fire live set, followed by the notorious KOBI SPICE to show off that 3K flare. Capping off the bill is a DJ lineup comprised of the city’s best hip-hop, RnB, afrobeats and dancehall selectors.
Why: It’s interesting how such diversity can be expressed through the same track played on a loop simulating a cat stuck inside a synthesizer.

5) Hannah Gadsby: Douglas Tour
7th December
What: Who is Douglas? Well, apparently, Hannah Gadsby thinks he is the only one who can help her follow up on the trail blazed by her last show: Nanette. But before she takes the mysterious Douglas for a trot around the world, Gadsby is coming home to take him off leash for a world premiere. This is a strictly limited run before they go for walkies in the U.S.
Why: You know what she can do. We don’t need to sell this one.
4) The Temper Trap: Conditions Tour
4th December
What: Since Conditions launched The Temper Trap onto the global stage the band have moved overseas, started families, confirmed tour muso Joseph Greer as an official band member, performed on main stages of some of the biggest festivals in the world, released a further two #1 ARIA Albums, and announced the departure of Lorenzo Sillitto from the band, and extensively toured globally. 1) Good Things Festival
6th December
What: Good things festival established itself on the Australian festival calendar in 2018 bringing forth a new era for Australian alternative music fans, ushered in by an unstoppable army of some of the heaviest, and most alternative bands the universe had on offer. After its successful launch in 2018, good things once again returns for 2019.
Why: Remember that era of your life soaked in pathetic teenage disillusionment when you’d misquote Wikipedia-searched sections of anarchist poetry in attempt to try to carve out a reactionary identity? Imagine a whole festival dedicated to the soundtrack of that era.
