Come to the Lighthouse Festival. Quick, While it’s Still Above Sea Level!
Do you dream of living in a lighthouse? The white one by the bay?
Have you ever, ever felt like this?
Sure, that was a sharp jackknife from English Psychedelic Folk via Stanley Kubrick to ABC’s Round The Twist.
But that jackknife is pretty indicative of the contemporary Australian mindset.
Culturally untethered and carefully nostalgic for the works that, as of this moment, are not associated with non-fictional sex criminals.
As such, it seems there’s no more perfect way to preface the season for which Australia is famous than the Lighthouse Festival.
It’s a one-day boutique festival, fusing a mini food and wine fair with a laid back music festival, staged at Norah Head lighthouse.
Headlining the music element is one of Australia’s all time greats, Xavier Rudd. Joining Xavier on the headland stage is Central Coast locals The Sea Gypsies, Mama Kin Spender, Miniq, Tiali Eliza and Jye Sharp.
Blues, roots, jazz and indie-pop steeped in reminiscence, food and liquor from all parts of the world and an ocean view that will soon cease to be romantic and become the all-consuming harbinger of humanity’s comeuppance.
Come. Chill on the edge of the jackknife with us.
