10) Unwoman by The RABBLE
15th November
What: Unwoman is an epic and imagistic piece of feminist theatre created in both Ireland and Australia, examining reproductive rights, experiences of pregnancy and bodily autonomy. Made with THE RABBLE, professional performers and a community ensemble of pregnant performers, Unwoman is an invocation of the pregnant body as a plurality of experiences. It is visceral, carnal and an uncompromising piece of feminist theatre horrified by the history and laws attempting to curb bodily autonomy and reproductive rights.
Why: We bet you never thought the theatrical ‘pregnant pause’ could get any more pretentious.

9) Future Legacies: Assemble Papers Issue #12 Launch Party
15th November
What: Buildings are the most durable art. But how will the next generation judge what we build today? Taking inspiration from the discussions at this year’s Living Cities Forum—MPavilion’s sister event presented by the Naomi Milgrom Foundation—print issue #12 of Assemble Papers explores our future legacies: from Glenn Murcutt’s sustainable architecture to German housing co-operatives, and from the world’s most beautiful playgrounds to Australia’s last cassette tape-maker. At this evening event, the Assemble Papers team is taking over the newly opened MPavilion to launch the (Future) Legacies edition with Millú’s signature mix of eclectic sounds from around the globe, drinks, and a free copy of Assemble Papers.
Why: How will the next generation judge what we build today? It doesn’t matter, really, does it? It’s not really possible to have your ego wounded when you have no idea what the hell the other person is saying.
8) The Velvet Revolution Exhibition Opening

What: You are invited to the opening of The Velvet Revolution, a photographic exhibition from the archives of John Donegan, recalling the events in Prague that led to the downfall of the communist regime in November 1989.
Why: Reflect on a time in which political dissidence didn’t equate to correcting someone’s grammar on a Tweet.
7) Hop Nation Wine Series Beer Launch
10th November
What: Paradise Alley will be cracking the tops of Hop Nation’s Wine Series Beers and Renee Trudeau of the Little Latin Lucy kitchen will be providing matched snacks to pair with each beer for your enjoyment. The four beers have been developed with fresh-pressed grapes from four unique wines and you’ll see the direct influence the wines have to the beers. Besides the matched bites, wine and beer, there’ll be a panel of winemakers and brewers taking you through the process of this incredibly interesting beer.
Why: We’ll admit, we’re not entirely sure what the product on offer here is, but as connoisseurs of the whisky-gin-baileys-Cointreau-ouzo-tini, we’re excited to find out.
6) Katie Noonan: The Glad Tomorrow Tour

What: The Glad Tomorrow brings together the searing poetry of Oodgeroo Noonuccal, ten Australian composers, Katie Noonan’s unmistakable voice and musicality, and the mastery of the Australian String Quartet. Setting Noonuccal’s uniquely Australian poetry to music, Katie Noonan has commissioned ten stellar Australian composers to create a captivating song cycle.
Why: Your grandmother’s favourite ‘new’ musician. Before your grandmother realised Katie Noonan is racially progressive.
5) Italian Cine-scapes #2: Fiore
10th November
What: The IIC Melbourne, in collaboration with Palace Cinemas and Istituto Luce Cinecittà, presents the second edition of the successful series Italian Cine-scapes with a new exciting selection of movies that speak of inner and external landscapes showing both a long gone and contemporary Italy.
Why: Experience a culture beyond terrifying, quasi-racist pasta sauce puppets.

4) St Kilda Wine & Cider Walk
16th November
What: The St Kilda Wine and Cider Walk will bring together 16 of your favourite St Kilda venues with wineries from across the state for an afternoon of wine, cider and entertainment. Immerse yourself in the best that local wineries and cider houses have to offer right in the heart of St Kilda. Each venue will be matched with a different winery for multiple tastings as you make your way down Fitzroy street, where you’ll also be dazzled and amazed by roving street performers.
Why: Just what an afternoon of extended drinking needed. Twats in tights.

3) Mate Fest
15th November
What: Moon Dog has invited all of their best brewer mates from all over the globe to come down to Melbourne, showcase their beers and party with their local Melbourne mates at the brand new Moon Dog World in Preston. There’ll be over 120 beers over the festival weekend from 22 international breweries many of which have never poured in Australia before and a chance to meet and chat to the brewers. Each session includes tastings, masterclasses, brewery tours, delicious food and a whole bunch of other fun activities.
Why: The perfect way to experience other cultures. Drunk.

2) Ballarat Frolic Festival
10th-13th November
What: Frolic Festival is a week long celebration of regional Victoria’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, asexual (LGBTIQA+) arts and culture. The festival will kick off with the Launch and Art Show. Then over the next week there is everything from the Bush Dance featuring Northcote String Band; the first ever Carnival Day with live entertainment, stalls and food trucks all afternoon at Alfred Deakin Place; Granny Bingo bringing the laughs at Trades Hall; an afternoon of jazz and wine tasting; one of the most popular events ever Frolic Cabaret making a return; and Uptown Girl – a night of drag featuring Philmah Bocks, Jojo Zaho and Maude Boate. Head out west and join in to celebrate diversity and show your support for queer Ballarat.
Why: The only worthwhile reason to go to Ballarat other than the panning for gold demonstration at Sovereign Hill…okay it’s the only worthwhile reason to go to Ballarat.
