Why: Like a bad LSD trip but completely devoid of any meaningful revelations.

9) An Evening with Mr. Bill (Live)

What: The keenly awaited return of one of the world’s leaders in audio production, sound design and wonked-out glitch music comes to an end with Mr. Bill at Rubix Warehouse!
Why: It sounds like the TV show of a since-disgraced pedophilic children’s entertainer. And it’s almost as entertaining.

8) Ulterior Motive (Live)

What: As DJs Ulterior Motive have performed at festivals and clubs across the globe to rapturous audiences, with the pair becoming known for their DJ sets from London to Colombia. As producers they’ve remixed notable artists, collaborated with the cream of Drum & Bass producers and have been requested as sound designers for forthcoming projects in new media. As Metalheadz goes from strength to strength so do Ulterior Motive. There is a firm commitment to quality over quantity that continues to set the label and the duo apart from their peers.
Why: It’s a pretty ballsy move to disparage fellow Drum n Bass producers on the grounds of superiority. Then again it’s pretty much impossible to hear the sound of someone shooting themselves in the foot over the full-on aural assault of Drum n Bass music.

7) REMI (Live)

3) Ian Moss: Matchbook Tour

What: Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of his iconic debut, Mossy and his four-piece band will hit the road in November and December 2019 for a national six-week run which will see the globally respected songwriter and legendary guitarist performing iconic tracks from Matchbook plus more fan favourites.
Why: The least memorable thing about your older neighbour’s fifth-favourite band is back.
2) Steve Martin and Martin Short: Now You See Them, Soon You Won’t Tour

What: This celebrated comedy show redefines the form in unexpected and profound ways, from two of the funniest, most influential and acclaimed talents of the past century. The duo will be joined on stage by Grammy Award-winning bluegrass band The Steep Canyon Rangers. Steve Martin and Martin Short’s humor is often subversive, but it is always a joyous self-deprecating romp from two comedy masters driven to make each other laugh as much as the audience. The jokes come at you at a rapid-fire pace with little set-up and big punch lines as they mock Hollywood and the fickle nature of celebrity, but the comedy truly soars when they lovingly (and relentlessly) roast each other.

1) Melbourne Music Week
14th-23rd November
What: Melbourne Music Week (MMW) is a nine-day celebration of the city’s thriving world-renowned music scene. This time around, MMW returns to its 2011 Kubik concept, bringing its bright and boxy installation to Alexandra Gardens. Beyond the hub, a vast range of events will take place across all kinds of venues. Robert Henke performs Lumière IIIx at the Melbourne Recital Hall, Goethe-Institut team up with MMW to bring DAF to Melbourne Town Hall, a handful of the WAT Artists roster soundtrack the night markets at Queen Victoria Market, Chiara Kickdrum leads a night at synthesiser studio MESS, an Algorave workshop takes place at Signal and Elisabeth Dixon employs the Federation Bells for a specially commissioned work at Birrarung Marr. The week wraps up with a closing party in the Hamer Hall foyer co-hosted by Crown Ruler and Bizarro, featuring Luca Lozano, Roza Terenzi and Mr. Ho.
Why: All the indie pretentiousness and insistent inaccessibility of the regular contemporary Melbourne music scene, but marginally more expensive.
