Top 10 Sydney Revelry On this week 28/07/2019
You’re about to hit a fever pitch. So make sure you cover your mouth when you cough. You’re criminally liable if you infect Hugh Jackman.
10) Lost Forrest 1st Birthday Bash feat. SIXPATHS
3rd August
What: Lost Forrest: the mystical sound of the FOMO vibed party. One stage, multiple genres, every hour all for the love of music.
Why: We don’t really see why one should fear missing out on this one. If the venue reaches capacity before you arrive, just go home, type, ‘techno house base groove’ into YouTube, water down some cheap whisky and turn up the heat in your house to an uncomfortable degree. You’ll get roughly the same experience with far less of a chance of contracting contact herpes.
9) Mwaka Moon Nights (AfroHouse vs Afrobeat)
2nd August
What: Mwaka moon is back and this month they’re doing their thing: Afro House vs Afrobeat. Featuring the queen of Afrohouse KRISTELLE who will bring the heat behind the stage…something you don’t wanna miss.
Why: Unless you value discernible melodies in your choice of music.
8) Home: Cap Carter with Tim Meaco X Lucy Lowe
2nd August
What: Cap Carter is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist known for his soul vocals and emotive lyrics. Carter’s writing style is reminiscent of the haunting and soulful melodies of Joni Mitchell and George Michael and the introspective lyrical narratives of Paul Simon. Cap is returning to his singer-songwriter origins bringing along with him a fusion of R&B and indie-rock.
Why: There’s one thing that you will experience this night that you will have never experienced before. Whatever the hell the combination of Joni Mitchell and George Michael sounds like.
7) Warp & :affinity present 747
2nd August
What: Warp Arts and :affinity collaborate for the very first time to present Vancouver based DJ and producer 747. Inspired by the sounds of Berlin, Detroit, and an array of acid house legends, his sound is elating, powerful and introspective. A combination which embodies ‘the journey’ many of us seek when attending dance music events.
Why: So it’s a journey one seeks when attending a dance music event. It makes sense considering the rest of the one in question’s life is a short walk to nowhere.

6) Purgatory
3rd August
What: Purgatory is an underground techno/house event for all those who love real music! Featuring WA-FU, a fusion artist heavily influenced by Bassline and Garage, Hooten, who’s always groovy, energetic and seamless, Alec Bonnici, who has a talent for bass thumping beats and banging house, the eclectic House aficionado Ludovic and many more!
Why: Nothing screams ‘real’ music like a guy named Hooten who feels that Beethoven can only be improved by a drumbeat that sounds like it’s been pulled out of Garageband’s pre-loaded demo tracks. Well. This is purgatory.

5) The Fever Pitch
3rd August
What: An 8-piece band with 2 singers, 3 horns and a pumping rhythm section, The Fever Pitch knows that feet should be stomped, heartstrings should be pulled and backbones should be slipped at each and every show. Entertainment is the key and dynamite soul is how The Fever Pitch unlocks the hearts and minds of each and every person in the room.
Why: It’s the return of instrumental soul accompanied with a strong awareness of the brittleness of the backbones of its aged target audience.

4) Sauti Systems Night 9
2nd August
What: Sauti is a blend of worldly sonic content, creating an aesthetic that allows kids across Sydney to align with sounds through another perspective, whether that involves their diaspora roots or musical interests. This party incorporates sounds from UK garage, Rap, Hip-hop, Drill, Afrobeats, House, Grime as well as R&B.
Why: Align with another perspective; unless that perspective falls outside of those offered via a series of club music tracks virtually indistinguishable from each other.

3) Stonefield ‘Bent’ World Tour
2nd August
What: Psych-rock luminaries Stonefield are hitting the road in Australia. The first single Sleep opens the album with guitars covered in five inches of sludge and distortion and something that sounds like a far-off siren, or the high-pitched howling of the wind. It serves as a warning, a call to arms, kicking things off with a next-level version of the massive, unholy racket the band has become known for over the course of their last three albums.
Why: It’s rare for a young contemporary band to describe themselves with such honesty. But then, ingesting copious quantities of psychedelics can allow one to reach new realms of personal revelation without the trappings of ego.
2) The Artists Cabaret
2nd August
What: Beautiful women, beautiful men, the fashion forward, the suits, the artists, the models and the misfits are throwing a party that will have studio 54 looking tame. So if you like to push the boundaries, come for a night of mingling, dancing, live art and performances at The Artists Cabaret, where Art comes to Play. Give Sydney something to talk about.
Why: Screw dissecting a complex sociopolitical quagmire in an era of unbridled technological advancement, what’s really missing from the conversational zeitgeist is another horse-filled orgy.

Produced by TEG DAINTY the tour will see Jackman perform a new show with hit songs from The Greatest Showman, Les Misérables and more from Broadway and film, accompanied by a live orchestra.
Why: He’ll never be Wolverine again. But that doesn’t mean he’s finished attempting to break the sound barrier with his howl-based oeuvre.
