10) Anzac Day Parade Brisbane

What: The Anzac Day Parade Brisbane has its 103rd anniversary on 25 April 2019 having been the commemorated from the first Anzac Day in 1916. The 2019 Anzac Day Parade Brisbane will recognise the contribution of Women in War.
Why: We would make a comment about the moral complexity of honouring war veterans, but we’re not white enough to do so without fearing repercussions. So we’re just going to shut up and salute.

9) Introduction to Alcohol Ink Workshop

What: This two and a half hour fun and informative workshop will give you the skills and confidence to create your own stunning artwork using alcohol inks. You’ll get to experiment with different tools and techniques and create multiple artworks to take home with you.
Why: Learn a way to paint with alcohol that doesn’t involve intense tensing of the stomach muscles and an empty alleyway.

What: Join one of Australia’s most significant critics, Rex Butler in conversation with Sarah Follent, Executive Editor of Eyeline, for the Brisbane launch of Double Displacement: Rex Butler on Queensland Art 1992–2016. Double Displacement provides a comprehensive survey of Butler’s texts on art from Queensland. Collecting pieces on major contemporary artists.
Why: An art critic in critical conversation concerning the nature of contemporary art criticism. We hope Butler is reading this out loud. It might just paralyse the part of his tongue that allows him to French kiss his own arse.
6) Throttle by The Farm
24th April
What: Throttle is a B-grade thriller viewed from within the safety of your own car. Lit by your headlights, heard through your car radio and seen through your windscreen, this is a live-action drive in with a difference.
Why: Live-action theatre but with the benefit of being able to drive away (or run over) at will.

5) April Seven Course Plant-Based Degustation
23rd April
What: An event that highlights some of the amazing produce from around Brisbane. The event includes seven beautiful courses, created by Head Chef Nathan Kirk using local partner producers such as Little Acre Mushrooms and Food Connect. If you are looking to indulge a little more, wine pairings for each course are also available on the night.
Why: Just make sure to prepare your toilet for the following morning’s events. You’ll be shooting out gummy worms from the eighties.
