8) Bendigo Easter Antique Fair

7) Art Battle

What: A live painting tournament showcasing local artists and connecting Melbourne to towns and cities around the world! Come watch as artists transform blank canvases into beautiful pieces of art in just 20 minutes, and then help vote to determine the winner of the event!

Why: Nothing says ‘legitimate artistic expression’ like a twenty minute time limit.

4) Summer Dreaming: A Female-led Fest

What: Summer Dreaming is a new, female-led, alcohol-free music festival that celebrates the female and gender diverse music and creative talents of Melbourne’s inner North. Summer Dreaming was organised by a diverse and passionate group of young women dedicated to creating a music festival that tackles the gender imbalance in the creative industries and fosters a sense of true community. On one stage, Summer Dreaming will shine a spotlight on a predominantly female and gender diverse line-up, with a soft-pop sound.

Why: A music festival of soft pop without alcohol? That feels pretty damn imbalanced to us.

3) Sri Lankan Festival

What: Comedian Dilruk Jayasinha will be hosting the Sri Lankan Festival Melbourne – a celebration that will bring together some of Sri Lanka’s favourite foods, cultural dance performances and musicians. 13th-21st April

What: An annual event, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival literally takes over Australia’s comedy capital, Melbourne, each autumn with an enormous program of stand-up comedy, cabaret, theatre, street performance, film, television, radio and visual arts.

Why: Laugh with something other than bitter resentment. Unless you accidentally bought tickets to Dave Hughes.
