What: A one hour journey into the observations and experiences of a middle aged, Jewish succubus who is firmly on some currently undiscovered, psychiatric spectrum. From dating advice to dermal fillers to anti-semites, you are guaranteed to be either traumatised or transfixed…maybe both.
Why: Or stay home and watch three episodes of Seinfeld. You’ll have a lot more fun.

8) Slow Art Day at ACCA
6th April
What: Slow Art Day is a worldwide event with a simple mission: help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art. The goal of Slow Art Day is to focus on the art and the art of seeing. Look at selected contemporary artworks in the Tom Nicholson: Public Meeting exhibition, before joining Eliza Devlin and Shannon Lyons, ACCA Educators, at 2pm for a relaxed group discussion about what you’ve seen and experienced.
Why: There’s no way of getting around it, folks. There’s no quick in and out. But you know what makes appreciating art go a lot faster? Appreciating fermentation.

7) Escher’s Genius

5) Wine & Food Meets Opera
6th April
What: Coombe Yarra Valley arrives at Little Collins St Kitchen for an exciting collaboration to celebrate former Australian opera singer Dame Nellie Melba. Guests will be treated to a decadent three course menu featuring the Peach Melba dessert and carefully selected wines from the Coombe Yarra Valley cellar. An opera singer will perform during the lunch and guests get to hear from a guest speaker of Coombe Yarra Valley, which used to be Dame Nellie Melba’s residence.
Why: Good thing there’s no Melba Toast. Can you imagine how badly those little hard squares would shatter when blasted with opera music a metre from the consumer’s face?

4) High Spirits Celebrating the Australian Distilled Spirits Awards
4th April
What: Enjoy a night of bespoke cocktails at beach-side bar Captain Baxter where Australia’s best spirits will be announced. Tickets include newly awarded spirits and liqueur tastings, specialty cocktails served all night, canapes and good tunes!
Why: One of the few competitive events you can attend wherein you’ll be entirely non-threatened by the winner. Because you can drink them.
3) Indie Spirits Tasting
31st March
What: The event will feature 37 exhibitors showcasing more than 140 craft spirits, with master distillers on hand and free seminars going deep into the world of independent spirits. Indie Spirits Tasting is the country’s biggest showcase of craft spirits.
Why: If Woodstock was the Woodstock of hard drugs, this is Woodstock of hard liquor.

2) Man from Snowy River Bush Festival
4th-7th April
What: Pack your swag, grab your mates and head to Corryong for the best bush hospitality that the Snowy Mountains can offer. The Man from Snowy River Challenge, art and photography exhibition, bush poetry and music, re-enactment of Banjo’s famous poem, Aussie Bush Idol and Ute Muster have grown to be events listed on calendars all over Australia.
Why: It’s that time of year to remember that Banjo Paterson was so much more than just a poet whose poem was once printed on kitchen towels and other tourist paraphernalia. He was and remains an excuse to get pissed in the bush.

What: An annual event, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival literally takes over Australia’s comedy capital, Melbourne, each autumn with an enormous program of stand-up comedy, cabaret, theatre, street performance, film, television, radio and visual arts.
Why: Laugh with something other than bitter resentment. Unless you accidentally bought tickets to Dave Hughes.
