10) International Women’s Day Soirée
8th March
What: Celebrate International Women’s Day with an evening under the stars at Hanworth House. Donations taken at the event will be used to support the incredible missions of both UN Women National Committee Australia and The Butterfly Foundation. A celebration of women with bubbles, Bellinis and canapés!
Why: Be moral. Stand up for something. By chugging free liquor and stuffing as many tiny quiches in your pants as you can.
9) We Are Rhythm
9th March
What: We Are Rhythm is the second joint event hosted by Brisbane jewellery designer Whoot Whoot Designs and Brisbane bag and accessories designer KatherineByKatherine. Megan Potter will be bringing her fabulous Australian made mineral make up as well as some make up tips. There will be a free glass of champagne and one-of-a-kind-designs for fashion fiends.
Why: It’s early Autumn in Queensland. So don’t forget to slip, slop, slap. Slip on a $700 scarf, slop on a kilo of makeup and slap anyone who thinks you buy off the rack.

8) The Love Boat: Rainbow River Festival

What: A fabulous afternoon of festivities aboard ‘The Love Boat’ (a.k.a M.V. Catalina). Including a Rainbow River Cruise, beach games and a performance from the unmistakable Melony Brests this party is not to be missed.
Why: FINALLY. The one thing we’ve always felt was missing from that that glorious sexually charged 70s tv series. A brilliant drag act.
7) The F Word: An Exhibition Celebrating International Women’s Day

What: In 2019 The Print Bar is celebrating International Women’s Day by bringing together more than 20 female artists from across Brisbane and beyond to discover and share insights into the artistic practice and the nature of gender politics.
Why: Artists talking about gender politics? Yeah, we know. It sounds dry. But you have two flask-sized pant pockets that say otherwise.
6) Millencolin Australian Tour

What: Punk Rockers unite…this killer double bill of MILLENCOLIN and GOLDFINGER will see twisted flesh, flailing limbs and a sea of swarming bodies across Australia this March!
Why: It’s like a house-fire. But the sounds emanating from it will be…much worse.
5) Slaves
7th March
What: Fresh from the release of their critically acclaimed third album, Acts of Fear and Love, Isaac Holman (drums, vocals) and Laurie Vincent (guitar, vocals) are bringing their anthemic songs to Australia, smashing up festival stages and venues alike in a joyous, celebration of big riffs, big beats and even bigger choruses. The punk duo will be playing their debut headline shows at The Brightside!
Why: Whilst genres like techno and house have the audacity to use phrases like ‘intricate’, ‘rhythmic’, ‘harmonious’ and ‘good vibes’, this genre freely admits that their music is a genuine act of violence against the notion of music. We respect that.

4) Composing Noosa Festival

What: Composing Noosa is an innovative and exciting 3-day music festival featuring inspiring international and local composers and performers. The festival comprises concerts, seminars and masterclasses, as well as a rare opportunity to socialise with the performers and composers at the festival parties.
Why: We could take or leave the classical music. But there’s nothing more tantalising than spending three days tipsily impersonating an uppity twat amongst a bunch of actual uppity twats using your extensive knowledge of ‘Frasier’.
