Top 10 things On in Brisbane this week 24/02/2019
Get ready to laugh your ass off, Brisbane. Bananarama’s on tour. Also there’s a comedy festival on.
10) Browns Plains Kids Twilight Markets
1st March
What: A twilight market and open air cinema with market stalls, face painting, food trucks, centre tours and much much more!
Why: Ahh, a dark market. What better way to “misplace” your children?
9) Pop-Up Brunch by Rogue Bistro
24th February
What: Rogue Bistro is delivering the goods again, this time with 3x sittings of good ol’ brunch at The Refinery.
Why: We’d hoped the concept of brunch would melt away in the post-Sex and the City era. But we’ll never decry an event wherein day-drinking is a given.

8) Zeal & Ardor: Stranger Fruit Tour
28th February
What: Zeal & Ardor is truly a musical force like no other. A one-time experiment of Swiss-American mastermind Manuel Gagneux, the avant-garde combination of negro spirituals and black metal embraced on his 2015 album Devil Is Fine quickly connected with several previously unstruck chords.
Why: Experimental social commentary in the form of a…DJ night. What a wonderful time to be alive.
7) Beer Yoga
24th February
What: A charitable Beer Yoga session with Tyler from Always Sunny Yoga & Fitness. Tyler will be running you through a full yoga session with a can of Nineteen 09 in hand. Come for the Yoga, Namaste for the beer.
Why: The only reason to ever participate in yoga.

6) Circus De Love
2nd March
What: Autumn is upon us and although Summer has finished the fun sure hasn’t. Love Nightlife Presents: Circus De Love. A night immersed in a world of carnival fun with live performers, prize giveaways, carnival games and more.
Why: You’re never too old for a carnival. That’s what the guy who ran the malfunctioning off-brand teacup ride said on that night back when you were six years old and blacked out for a solid two hours after eating a weirdly crunchy hotdog.

5) Dance Gavin Dance with Veil of Maya
26th February
What: Two of the world’s most creative and experimental heavy acts – Dance Gavin Dance & Veil of Maya – are coming to Australian shores. Dance Gavin Dance’s ambitious blend of heady progressive rock and post-hardcore has become something uniquely their own. Veil of Maya encode a ponderous narrative into the core of their music via a maelstrom of polyrhythmic guitars, sweeping vocals and shuddering beats.
Why: You know what they say about a music act that uses several nebulous types of genre terminology. It’s quality stuff.
4) T.O.P Neon Jungle
25th February
What: T.O.P. is the result of combined experience and passion together with some of Brisbane’s best up and coming drag superstars. Specialising in outstanding show production, choreography, costume design and captivating performances, the Neon Jungle Party is going to be a night of fun, fabulousness, sass and slay that you’d be insane to miss!
Why: One of the few ways you can attempt to capture the magic of the city you’ll be violently jealous of for the next two weeks. Happy pseudo-Mardi Gras, Brisbane.
