10) International Day of People with Disability
3rd December
What: RMIT is proud to host a morning tea celebration to mark the International Day of People with Disability. Dionne Higgins, COO and RMIT’s Senior Executive Disability Champion will speak about the progress made this year as part of RMIT’s 2016-2020 Accessibility Action Plan.
Why: We don’t know about you, but…wait. Of course we know about you. You’ve been feeling pretty comfortable, assuming your dedication to Adam Hills’ The Last Leg is sufficiently supporting the disabled community? Ha! Well, fortunately for you, as always, we have the remedy for this ethical lapse. As above.
9) Catalyst Festival
1st & 2nd December
What: A program of 7 original performance works, the Catalyst Festival showcases Deakin’s innovative Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama) graduating students.
Why: If you didn’t get your fill of snotty little kids stumbling incoherently through a monologue crammed with words you’re positive they don’t understand from your niece’s 3rd-grade school play, this one’s for you.

8) Garden of Similar Differences
6th December
What: Transit Dance’s final Contemporary pre-professional production of 2018. A breathtaking night of Contemporary Dance showcasing the unique talents of Transit’s 2018 Contemporary Dance Diploma students.
Why: We know. We’re pitching contemporary dance. But you can’t deny that the experience is already breathtaking. You had to breathe in a quite lot to be able to scream that many unbroken profanities at us.

7) Analogue Art in a Digital World Opening Night
6th December
What: This exhibition, curated by Sam Leach and Tony Lloyd, presents a survey of contemporary artists who use the analogue practices of painting and drawing to create artworks that engage with or are influenced by digital visual culture.
Why: It’s your least favourite friend who still uses a typewriter and knows exactly where to buy the good moustache wax but in exhibition form.
6) End-of-Year Debate: ‘Will Robots Bring Us Utopia?’
7th December
What: Overland and the National Union of Workers are hosting a lively end-of-year debate on the topic of automation and what it will mean for workers and labour. Join the conversation with free food and free drinks.
Why: Because who doesn’t want to get drunk and have a deep, intense discussion about the frailty of human relevance in the free market whilst society trembles upon the A.I precipice that was described by the late Stephen Hawking as the thing that “could spell the end of the human race“?
5) Livin’ in the 70’s
5th December
What: Be transported back to the 1970’s with this unique double bill of dance by Kim Adam and Michael Ralph. Michael Ralph delves into the choreographic styles of Michael Bennett and Bob Fosse with a glimpse into the world of a dancer in 1975, whilst Kim Adam takes a look at the life and styles of the inner suburban teenager.
Why: Because if there’s any way to improve upon paying actual money to sit through contemporary dance, it’s adding in the flavour of an era when Starland Vocal Band was allowed to exist.

4) The Wiggles Wiggle Pop! Show
2nd December
What: The Wiggles Pop! Big Show will feature all your favourite Wiggles songs such as ‘Do the Propeller!’, ‘E-M-M-A’, ‘Hot Potato’ and ‘Rock-a- Bye Your Bear’. You’ll see The Wiggles, their Wiggly friends and dancers, Santa Claus and dancing reindeers.
Why: Bring your kids! Or lock your kids at home, visit your sketchy friend Andy down the street with the things in interesting baggies, feel your pupils dilate and enjoy the hell out of the show!
3) Festive French Feast
6th December
What: Enjoy a twilight tour of the art exhibition Mirka Mora: Pas de Deux followed by a festive French feast at Café Heide inspired by the recipes from Mirka & Georges: A Culinary Affair.
Why: Art? Gastronomy? French people? It’s the pretension trifecta.

2) The Kevin Hart Irresponsible Tour
5th & 6th December
What: Kevin Hart is bringing his widely successful and massively hysterical ‘The Kevin Hart Irresponsible Tour,’ to Australia in 2018 and will perform 360º in- the-round – a first for a stand-up comedy tour of this scale.
Why: Yeah. The guy responsible for such comedically genius performances as Ride Along, Get Hard and Ride Along 2 is going on the road without the aid of a distractingly exorbitant Hollywood budget. You don’t want to miss this.
1) Meredith Music Festival
7th-9th December
What: A 28-year-old three-day outdoor music festival at the “Supernatural Amphitheatre” in Meredith. A naturally occurring amphitheatre hosting an eclectic line-up of song-writers, electro-samplers, folk-singers and indie rockers.
Why: What’s better than attempting to enjoy contemporary music? Doing it in a ditch getting eaten alive by bugs and with a very hazy idea of whether there are functioning toilets in the vicinity.
