Top 10 Sydney Revelry On this week 11/11/2018

From Berlin, to the unknown, to strawberry fields. Vienna waits for you, Sydney. So stay here for a week and get drunk to the sounds of a woman named for mustard.

10) Sculpture By the Sea

12th-14th November

Yes, folks, it’s that time of year again. As Sydney-siders we’re all aware of the time wherein experimental sculptors will dot the beach walk of Sydney with their works of modern art. Come, pretend to be able to discern the good from the bad, and wildly punctuate the conversation with the term ‘bourgeoise’.

9) The Ethics of Hedonism

14th November

An afternoon with criminologist Michael Salter who’ll be leading a boozy discussion on the ethics of hedonism in a gin distillery. Because nothing says hedonism like a…lecture.

7) Berlin Experiment – Techno in Bondi

6) Official EMC Opening Party

13th November

It’s the opening party for the Electronic Music Conference. Free beer for the first hour whilst you dance to 3 hand-curated (by Dave Howe of Triple J) electronic music artists. Oh yes, we said conference. Surprised? You shouldn’t be. If there’s anything those head-banging electro-fans like more than listening to a synth violently vomiting on a cat hooked up to powerful electrodes, it’s a good conference.

5) Unknown Pleasures: Honey Dijon

17th November

A night of hot beats and infectious rhythms featuring the DJ-spinning talents of fashion-icon Honey Dijon whose style blends all genres “without looking to the past”. That must be why they named the night after an old song from Joy Division. It also must be why she’s named herself after a condiment from 1856.

4) Subsonic & Blueprint with Andhim!

16th November

A party night at The Junction featuring the newest live electro-dance act ‘Andhim’. Hailing from Germany via Cologne, they’re known for their rich groove-inspired house music. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned from history it’s that, boy, those Germans are mad about synthesising.

3) Sydney’s Biggest Underwear Party

16th November

One of the biggest events before Mardi Gras is taking place once again. A dress-up party wherein the code is strictly “underwear, jockstraps and swimwear”. A night of partying with the best Sydney DJs, the overpowering aroma of industrial-grade deodorant, and odd stains that will become less obvious the more you drink.

16th-18th November

Another 10th anniversary. Expect a festival of the newest in rock, indie, pop and electro music as well as fringe performances, live art, light shows, fireworks all set in the Wildlands of the Australian bush. Voted one of the top 10 music festivals in the world (by Resident Advisor – yes that quality, well-known source), come bearing legs and at least three fedoras made of straw. Present your orange aviators at the ticket entrance or you’ll be refused entry.

14th, 16th & 17th November

English Contemporary R&B pop and soul singer-songwriter known for his breakthrough single ‘Latch’ and ‘Black and Gold’ is returning to Australian shores with his new tour ‘The Thrill of it All’.
